Mr. Bingham passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Brian's House. Age 83 years.  He was born June 25, 1926 in Englewood, New Jersey and moved to Bay City in 1944.  .  He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, retired from Central Foundry- Grey Iron Division after 18 years of service and was  a member of the U.A.W. Local # 668.  Charles served with the United States Army during WW II.  He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 6950 Linwood/Kawkawlin, he managed baseball teams at Bangor Recreation for thirty plus years and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over fifty years.

 

He is survived by his wife the former Helen L. Stovel whom he married on June 25, 1948, four children; Alan and Cheri Bingham of Tawas, Randy and Ronnie Bingham of Linwood, Lori Bingham of Bay City and Mark and Jane Bingham of Essexville,  his grandchildren; Andrea (Paul) Briner, Kara Bingham, Joshua (Stephanie) Bingham, Chad (Pam) Bingham, Jason Bingham, Andrew "Booger"Bingham, Matthew Bingham and Amanda (Aaron) Sperling, two great grandchildren; Charles "C.J." Briner and Addyson Bingham and the family is expecting the third great grandchild Jackson Sperling, one sister; Emma Ferguson of Ohio, one brother-in-law; William F. Miller of Auburn  and six nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his parents; Emma (Harra) and Leonard Bingham and his twin daughters, one sister and two brothers-in-law; Reatha and Harry Dubay and Carl Ferguson.

 

Funeral Services will take place Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church.  Officiating will be Rev. Carol M. Blair-Bouse   with  interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery under the Bay County Veterans Council.  Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m..  Mr. Bingham will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for Christ United Methodist Church or Brian's House will be available at the funeral home.
